Top Class A/W Sprint action......

16:35 Wolverhampton

Top class sprint racing today and an ultra competitive race to boot. 11 runners go to post in the 16:35 at Wolves over just short of 6 furlongs and with £18,000 up for grabs we should get an honest run race.

My first thoughts in these top class sprint races is weight isn't the deciding factor - class is, so it's worth concentrating on the top weighted horses.

Qadar heads the weights and market at 5/1 and has held is form remarkably well over the winter, he can be relied upon to run his race.

Bahamian Pirate is next and he came back to form last time at with a win at Southwell. I'm a little concerned that this switch to the faster surface of Wolverhampton might find him out and he isn't the most consistent of runners.

Red Cape is an imposing son of Cape Cross and seems to have improvement in him (Cape Cross's notoriously improve with age) and has already achieved a high level of form on the A/W. He seems to need a strong pace to pull him into a race and for that his defeat at Southwell when clear favourite can be ignored. His 2 pieces of form at Lingfield bring him right into contention here, and with this slightly longer straight likely to benefit him he is very much short-list material (1 out of 1 at Wolves).

Magic Glade has put in a couple of fine performances in recent weeks and although this is a distinct step up in class he should run his race maybe finding one too good.

Ripples Maid is an interesting runner and if improving over the winter she would have a mighty say in this race. She is without doubt the fly in the ointment.

Ajigolo comes into the reckoning on bits of his form - but looks to have a little to find with Qadar on their collateral form.

Of the others Distinctly Game looks to have improved or at least found some of his old form and only the inexperience of jockey Catherine Gannon puts me a off.

All in a all a ultra competitive race where a case can be made for lots of runners. Although there is no certain front runner I still believe due to the prize on offer this will be run at a decent pace. I believe we have yet to see the best of Red Cape and at likely odds of 11/2 he looks a solid E/W bet.

Suggested bet:

16:35 Wolves

2.5pts E/W Red Cape
